After a nice walk in and around the Belvedere, it's worthwhile stopping for an Einspanner and light lunch. My friend and I couldn't get enough of the pommes (french fries) here. Yummy

Café Schwarzenberg

Another grand Viennese coffee house with wonderful cake selection. Dating from 1902, this is another stunning cafe. I only had cake and coffee, but next time I shall have dinner as their food also looked great.

I went here after my Figlmuller schnitzel, as i was looking for something sweet. Cafe Diglas has so many beautiful and tasty cakes, so there is something for all tastes. Coffee is also first class.

Figlmüller Bäckerstraße

Figlmüller Bäckerstraße

Historic Schnitzel restaurant founded by Johann Figlmüller in 1905. There are three in Vienna, but I went to the 'Bäckerstraße'. You will need to book ahead as it is VERY popular, and worth it!

Pho Sai Gon

AMAZING Vietnamese restaurant in Vienna. Living in Prague, I feel like a PHO-expert, so please trust me when I DEMAND you go here.

We were on the hunt for Schnitzel in the centre of Vienna... sounds easy, but most were stupid-expensive. We found this place and were very satisfied.

Best ribs I have ever tasted. Everybody else's meals looked great too. It's a huge restaurant and was fully booked, so clearly, I'm not alone with my praise.

Historic cafe, as featured in my book 'Grand literary cafes of Europe'. As expected, everything was of the highest standard. I had three perfect courses

Cafe Kunsthistorisches Museum

Cafe Kunsthistorisches Museum

Stunning cafe set within the art galley of the museum quarter. Great views wherever you sit - if you sit by a window, you get the museum and gardens opposite, if you sit within the main area, you get THE ceiling. What a treat.

Charming location, also featured in my book; 'Grand literary cafes of Europe'. I had breakfast here. Next time, I shall return for coffee and cake. They all looked great. Think I would be very fat if I lived in Vienna

Aida chocolaterie & grobkonditorel

Aida chocolaterie & grobkonditorel

Nice place for coffee and cake. This particular venue is in the centre, opposite the 'St Stephens Cathedral', so easy to find and perfect for a pit-stop if you are shopping in the centre. Forgive my ignorance - I prefer coffee and cake to churches

Gasthaus Hansy

.Just next to the train station, I had 'the last supper' here while I waited for the bus ride home. The pork schnitzel was massive - like a road-kill pig deep fried. Nice though. After all, fried pork and beer is never wrong
